Tamil film Nerukku Ner became a commercial hit, back when it was released in 1997. The film marked the debut of one of the most successful actors in Tamil cinema, Suriya. Did you know that initially another big star was cast in Suriya’s role in the film? Nerrukku Ner saw Thalapathy Vijay and Suriya as leads. As per reports, Ajith Kumar was the first choice to play Suriya’s character. Reports state further that Ajith Kumar even shot for the film for eighteen days, but dropped out of it for an unknown reason. If he had continued with the film, it would have been Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith Kumar’s second release together after the film Rajavin Parvaiyile, which was released in 1995.
Through Nerukku Ner, Suriya made his debut in the film industry as an actor. Dubbed as a romantic action-thriller, the film was made under the direction of Vasanth and was released on September 6, 1997. The cast of the film included Vijay, Suriya, Simran, Kausalya, Prakash Raj, Raghuvaran and Shanthi Krishna. It was produced by Mani Ratnam under the banner of Madras Talkies. Deva composed the music in the film, while the cinematography was done by K V Anand and the editing was done by B Lenin and V T Vijayan.
Ajith Kumar is currently busy with the shoot of his upcoming action-thriller film Vidaa Muyarchi. Magizh Thirumeni is the director as well as the writer of the film. The film stars Ajith Kumar as the protagonist along with Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra and Arav. It is being produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the banner of Lyca Productions. Anirudh Ravichander is handling the music, while the cinematographers are Nirav Shah and Om Prakash; the editing is being done by N B Srikanth. The shooting of the film is taking place in Azerbaijan.
