Oscars 2021 Nominations: Ramin Bahrani Secures Best Adapted Screenplay Nod For 'The White Tiger'
Filmmaker Ramin Bahrani, the director of The White Tiger, has received an Academy Award nomination in the Adapted Screenplay category for the film.

Filmmaker Ramin Bahrani has secured an Oscar nomination in the Adapted Screenplay category for The White Tiger. The full list of nominees for the 93rd Academy Awards 2021 was disclosed by Nick Jonas and Priyanka on Monday, March 15.

The other films nominated in the category are Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, The Father, Nomadland and One Night in Miami.

The films nominated in the Original Screenplay category are Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Promising Young Woman, Sound of Metal and Promising Young Woman.

The White Tiger released on Netflix on January 22, 2021. The movie is based on the 2008 novel by Aravind Adiga that won the 40th Man Booker Prize.

The White Tiger traces the journey of a poor driver named Balram Halwai, played by Adarsh Gourav, who uses his shrewdness to escape poverty and become an ambitious driver. Priyanka Chopra played the role of Pinky Madam, a first-gen Indian immigrant to America, starring opposite Rajkumar Rao who plays Ashok in the movie.

Meanwhile, actor Adarsh Gourav recently bagged a British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) nod in the Best Actor category as the shortlist was announced on Tuesday. Apart from Adarsh, other nominees in the category include seasoned, international names like Riz Ahmed (Sound Of Metal), late Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round), Anthony Hopkins (The Father) and Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian).
