Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan has stirred the headlines after his Jana Sena Party achieved a remarkable feat by winning all 21 Assembly seats it contested in Andhra Pradesh. Besides his political career, Pawan is also looking forward to his much-awaited film OG, written and directed by Sujeeth.
Now, there is the latest buzz on social media regarding OG which mentions that Netflix acquired the digital rights of this film for a whopping Rs 92 crore. OG is expected to be released on the big screens on September 27, but now the word is that Netflix allotted a 2025 slot for the film’s release. As per reports, OTT platforms have been deciding on the release dates of movies. If these reports are indeed true, then Pawan’s fans will have to wait a little longer for his film’s release.
Some time back, there was another round of reports regarding OG. As per earlier reports, a leading digital platform had purchased the digital rights of OG for Rs 65 crore. The name of the digital platform was not revealed at that time. Ace producer DVV Danayya is investing over Rs 200 crore in OG and is determined to recover his investment through strategic negotiations. According to the reports, OG is the most expensive film of Pawan Kalyan’s career, and he intends to prioritise this gangster movie after the elections. It is because the Power Star, as Pawan is known wants to avoid further increases in production costs and interest rates on borrowed funds. As a result, the reports added, he will allocate three weeks to work on this film beginning in June.
OG went to the floors in April 2023 and stars Priyanka Arul Mohan as the female lead. The film is set against the backdrop of the Mumbai Mafia and stars Emraan Hashmi as the main villain, marking his Telugu debut. On the occasion of Emraan Hashmi’s birthday on March 24, the makers of OG released the first look of the actor that shows him in a stylish avatar lighting a cigar.
Apart from this film, Pawan will also act in the film Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
