Salman Khan’s Maine Pyar Kiya remains one of the most loved movies to date. In a recent interview, the Bollywood superstar also admitted that the 1989 film is one of his favourites as well. He also recalled shooting the popular song ‘Kabootar Ja Ja’ and revealed how it brought tears to his eyes.
“I was about 18 years old, and there was a truly memorable moment during the shoot for the song ‘Kabootar Ja Ja Ja’ when I suddenly knew that this was the role for me. During several narrations, I’d imagine Jackie Shroff or Anil Kapoor in those roles, but I could never actually see myself doing big films. That moment was the first time I really felt, ‘Yes, I can do this’. I had tears in my eyes,” Salman told Hello! Indo-Arabia.
Released in December 1989, Maine Pyar Kiya was directed by Sooraj Barjatya. Besides Salman, the film also starred Bhagyashree in the lead. Maine Pyar Kiya was widely loved by all and made Salman Khan a superstar in the country.
After the film’s success, Salman Khan wrote an open letter to his fans and expressed gratitude towards all. “Here is a little something I want you guys to know about me. Firstly, I have to thank you for accepting me and for being my fans. I am doing and concentrating on good scripts to the best of my judgement, because I know that whatever I do now will be compared to ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’. So whenever you hear an announcement, rest assured that it is going to be a good film, and I am going to give it my 100 per cent,” his letter read.
“I love you and I hope that you will keep on loving me because the day you stop loving me, you’ll stop seeing my films and that is the end of my career. Remember, you are the people who make people like us,” it added.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Salman Khan was last seen in Tiger 3. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film also starred Katrina Kaif in the lead. Next, Salman Khan will soon be seen in AR Murugadoss’ ‘Sikandar’. The film will be released on Eid 2025.
