Shabana Azmi has expressed disappointment with those who are “celebrating” the Kangana Ranaut slap incident. On Saturday, the veteran actress took to her X (formerly known as Twitter) handle and condemned the unfortunate incident.
“I have no love lost for #Kangana Ranaut. But I can’t find myself joining this chorus of celebrating “the slap”. If security personnel start taking law into their hands none of us can be safe,” she wrote.

Interestingly, this comes a day after music composer Vishal Dadlani supported the CISF constable who slapped Kangana and promised a job to her. “I do not ever support violence, but I absolutely understand the need of this @official_cisf personnel’s anger. If any action is taken against her by the CISF, I will ensure that she has a job waiting for her should she choose to accept it. Jai Hind. Jai Jawaan. Jai Kisaan,” he wrote.
Earlier today, Kangana Ranaut also penned down a strong note against those supporting the slap incident. The actress-turned-politician questioned the “criminal tendencies” of such people and asked if they will also be okay if somebody is raped or murdered.
“Every rapist, murderer or thief always have a strong emotional, physical, psychological or financial reason to commit a crime, no crime ever happens without a reason, yet they are convicted and sentenced to jail. If you are aligned with the criminals strong emotional impulse to commit a crime violating all laws of the land. Remember if you are ok with breaking in to someone’s intimate zone, without their permission touching their bodies and assaulting them then deep down you are ok with rape or murder also because that’s also just penetration or stab only what big deal, you must look deeper in to your psychological criminal tendencies,” she wrote.
So far, several actors including Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman, Urif Javed and Devoleena Bhattacharjee have come out in support of Kangana Ranaut, condemning the unfortunate incident. On Friday night, Anupam Kher also told Instant Bollywood, “It’s very unfortunate. It shouldn’t have happened especially from someone who is a security personnel. Jo bhi grievances hai usko alag tarike se pesh karne chahiye. I feel women of India should react to it, not just because Kangana is an MP, but she is also a woman.” Kher and Ranaut will soon be sharing the screen in the latter’s Emergency.
The newly-elected Member of Parliament, Kangana Ranaut was travelling to New Delhi on June 6 when she was slapped by an on-duty female CISF constable at the Chandigarh Airport. The female CISF staff identified as Kulwinder Kaur was unhappy with Kangna’s comment on Punjab ladies during the farmers’ agitation against the three farm laws, suggesting they participated in the protest for money. The lady constable was then arrested.
