Shraddha Kapoor made her Bollywood debut in the 2010 drama film Teen Patti. She was then seen in the 2011 film Luv Ka The End. Both films did not perform well at the box office and failed to bring much acclaim to Shraddha Kapoor, who is the daughter of Shakti Kapoor. Her breakout role was in Aashiqui 2 alongside Aditya Roy Kapur and the film cemented her footing in the industry.
In a recent interview, Shraddha recalled that after two flops, no one in the industry wanted to work with her, till Mohit Suri took a chance and made her the lead in Aashiqui 2. She said, “Kaafi saare auditions karne pade kyuki uss waqt aisa koi aise chahta nahi tha ki mere saath film kare. Khaas tor se agar flop film ka baggage leke aapki shuruat hui hai toh bohot kathin hota hai aapko agli film milna. Phir Mohit Suri ko pata nahi kya laga aur unhone belief dikhaya.”
However, what caught everyone’s attention were Rajkummar Rao’s expressions. Previously, Rajkummar Rao has sat through interviews where actresses like Sonam Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor have opened up about their struggles in the film world. One person wrote, “Raj is at the crime scene again Like HOW every freaking time?!?! ”
A comment read, “I applaud his patient. Hum na seh paate.” Another read, “He is such a great actor. The way he keeps that neutral face.” One person wrote, “Need a RKR montage in such situations. Ye Banda kaise fas jata hai yaar Har baar .” Another added, “Ye RKR kaise humesha aisi situation mein fas jata hai. ”
Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor are busy promoting Stree 2, which hit theatres, August 15. Although Akshay Kumar-Taapsee Pannu starrer Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham-Sharvari Wagh’s Vedaa are also releasing on the same day, Stree 2 is not expected to have much competition.
News18 Showsha gave the film 3.5/5 stars. Our review reads, “ Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao steer the ship effortlessly to the end. It’s refreshing to see Shraddha in an action role, and she should explore more of it in the future. However, it’s disappointing that her role is limited, especially given how much the Stree universe relies on her character. Rajkummar Rao delivers another memorable performance, showcasing his versatility across genres, from serious in Shrikant to emotionally intense in Mr & Mrs Mahi, and now comedy in Stree 2.”
