Rajkummar Rao’s Srikanth: Aa Raha Hai Sabki Aankhen Kholne hit the theatres on Friday, May 10. It opened to a lower note and minted Rs 2.25 crore at the box office on the first day. On the second day, owing to the weekend, the film collected Rs 4.2 crore. Day 3 saw a jump once again and earned Rs 5.25 crore, making its weekend collection to Rs 11.7 crore. From the weekdays, it maintained a low and steady pace. On Thursday, May 16, the film made just Rs 1.4 crore.
Srikanth is a Hindi biopic directed by Tushar Hiranandani featuring Rajkummar Rao, Alaya F, Jyothika and Sharad Kelkar in important roles. The movie opened to positive reviews from viewers and critics. But, despite that, the film does not seem to be making much money. It maintained a steady pace on days 5, 6 and 7 by earning Rs 1.65, Rs 1.6 and Rs 1.45 crore.
As per Sacnilk.com, the total film’s collection after a week now stands at Rs 17.85 crore. If it continues at this steady pace, it is expected to reach Rs 40 crore as its lifetime collection.
Srikanth is based on the real-life story of an industrialist, Srikanth Bolla, who despite being visually impaired defied all odds and achieved success in life. It will also highlight his academic struggles as a visually impaired person who graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The industrialist is also known for employing unskilled and differently-abled individuals. Rajkummar Rao’s role as Srikanth has earned him much praise. The film is backed by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Nidhi Parmar Hiranandani.
Previously, in an interview with News18 Showsha, Alaya F opened up about her work experience with Rajkumar Rao. She said, “He’s just so in character – he’s so invested in acting. It’s incredible. I mean, it’s a masterclass watching him do what he does. He’s also really, really sweet, kind, and a lovely person. So, it was great working with him!”
