The Miss World and Miss Universe winners from India have experienced their fair share of fame and stardom in Bollywood. The list includes the title’s last winner from India Manushi Chillar, who was crowned Miss World in 2017.
Manushi Chillar became the 6th Indian beauty to win the title of Miss World in 2017, following the steps of names like Priyanka Chopra and Aishwarya Rai. Before pursuing a career in modelling and films, Manushi had notable achievements in the field of medicine. In her first attempt, she was able to crack the All India Pre-Medical Test (now known as NEET). She was studying at the Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College, in Sonipat, for her medical degree.
The 27-year-old model actress made her debut in the film industry through the film Samrat Prithviraj, which was released in 2022. She got to share the screen space with Akshay Kumar in the film, playing the role of Princess Sanyogita. As per reports, the film was made under a budget of Rs 220 crore but failed to perform at the box office. It was directed as well as written by Chandraprakash Dwivedi.
Her second Bollywood release is titled The Great Indian Family, where she was seen donning the role of Jasmeet Kaur Randhawa. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the film was led by Vicky Kaushal along with Manushi Chillar, Manoj Pahwa and Kumud Mishra. Aditya Chopra produced the film under the banner of Yash Raj Films. Upon its release, the film became a box-office failure.
Manushi Chillar’s subsequent releases Operation Valentine and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, both failed to perform well at the box office. In the latter release, Manushi was seen with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. Reportedly, the film was made under a budget of Rs 350 crore.
Currently, the actress is busy with the shoot of her fourth film, titled Tehran, dubbed as an action thriller. The film stars John Abraham, Manushi Chhillar, Madhurima Tuli and Neeru Bajwa. It is directed by Arun Gopalan while the producer is Dinesh Vijan.
