‘To The Indian Army’: Vicky Kaushal On Receiving Best Actor Critics Award At Dadasaheb Phalke IFF 2024
Vicky Kaushal received the Best Actor (Critics) award for his performance in biographical war drama, Sam Bahadur.

The winners for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2024 are out. Some of the notable stars in the industry bagged accolades in popular categories. Among them, Vicky Kaushal received the Best Actor (Critics) award for his performance in Sam Bahadur. For some unspecified reasons, the actor could not attend the event, but conveyed his gratitude upon receiving the honour via a video message.

A snippet of the video message featuring Vicky Kaushal was shared on Instagram. In the clip, the actor said, “Thank you so much to the jury of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for honouring me with the Best Actor Critics for my work in Sam Bahadur.” He apologised for being unable to attend the event as he had to travel outside Mumbai. Moreover, upon receiving the award, the actor expressed his gratitude to the director, Meghna Gulzar, producer Ronnie Screwala, and the entire team of Sam Bahadur, which included all the technicians, the writers, and the co-actors. Vicky believes that the team’s support enabled him to perform at his best.

Further Vicky Kaushal stated, “I also extend my heartfelt thanks to the family of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw for their assistance, love, and support.” Lastly, he also thanked the viewers who appreciated the film and watched it in theatres, and he also lauded the dedication of the Indian Army.

The actor reposted the clip from the event on his IG stories and thanked the organizers. He wrote, “To the Indian Army.”

Sam Bahadur narrated the story of India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw, whose military career lasted four decades and over five conflicts. He was the first Indian Army officer appointed to the rank of Field Marshal.

Sam Manekshaw led the Indian Army to victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, which resulted in the formation of Bangladesh. Throughout his distinguished military career, he performed critical roles. Helmed by Meghna Gulzar, the film also starred Sanya Malhotra as Sam Manekshaw’s wife Siloo and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Indira Gandhi.

Apart from Vicky Kaushal, Shah Rukh Khan received the Best Actor award for his outstanding performance in Jawan. His co-star Nayanthara received the Best actress trophy for the same film. Anirudh Ravichander was also honoured with Best Music for Jawan while Sandeep Reddy Vanga received the Best Director award for Animal.
