After the massive success of the first season of Tom Hiddleston starrer The Night Manager, Amazon and the BBC are now gearing up to revive the Emmy-winning thriller for two seasons. After almost eight years of the first part, The Night Manager will return for two new series, slated to commence shooting later this year. While Tim Hiddleston is all set to reprise his role as Jonathan Pine, many others including Hugh Laurie will also return this time. The creator of the series, David Farr will return as the writer for the upcoming seasons, while BAFTA winner Georgi Banks-Davies will direct all six episodes of series two.
To be made under the banner of The Ink Factory in association with Character 7, Demarest Films and 127 Wall, and in co-production with Spanish partner Nostromo Pictures, the new seasons of The Night Manager will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK and outside of the UK, globally on Amazon Prime Video.
The Night Manager’s New Seasons
The upcoming seasons of The Night Manager will pick from the events after the finale of season 1 with Tom Hiddleston’s Jonathan Pine in focus.
In the finale episode, Jonathan Pine was seen foiling Richard Roper’s (Hugh Laurie) latest arms deal, only to find another heinous move by the shady billionaire. Having discovered that his girlfriend Jed had betrayed him, Roper goes on to place her in the hands of his henchman, Frisky.
However, makers left audiences imagining Roper’s fate as he was shown being dragged off by people who don’t mean him well. Well, it seems the answers will be given in the upcoming seasons.
Aired in 2016, The Night Manager mainly revolves around the story of a former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston) who is hired to take down an arms dealer. The first season also features actors like Oliva Colman, Tom Hollander, and Elizabeth Debicki. The show was nominated for 12 Emmys and won two, along with three BAFTA TV Awards. The show was a huge success, watched by millions and it was even remade in Hindi.
Speaking on the recent developments, Hiddleston, in a statement obtained by Deadline, said, “The first series of The Night Manager was one of the most creatively fulfilling projects I have ever worked on. The depth, range and complexity of Jonathan Pine was, and remains, a thrilling prospect.”
