Actor Varun Dhawan recently took to his Instagram stories to share his thoughts on Fahadh Faasil’s Malayalam film, Aavesham. He posted a reel about the movie and encouraged his fans to watch it on Prime Video.
In the shared reel, Fahadh appears in a scene from Aavesham that says, “Ranga bro always keeps his word.” The clip highlights a pivotal moment where Fahadh’s character defends three college students he’s mentoring. Alongside the post, Varun wrote, “#aaveshamonprime. This movie is such a ride every cinema lover with love it dekho dekho!!! #primebae @primevideoin.”
Aavesham, directed by Jithu Madhavan, revolves around three college students: Aju (Hipzster), Bibi (Mithun Jai Shankar), and Shanthan (Roshan Shahnavaz). They seek help from a local thug named Ranga (Fahadh) after being bullied by Kutty (Midhutty) and his gang. Their attempt to win Ranga’s loyalty and retaliate against Kutty leads them into unforeseen troubles.
The film recently faced criticism from a Catholic priest in Kerala for allegedly ‘promoting violence and alcohol use,’ and the song Illuminati for ‘undermining values,’ according to Onmanorama. Bishop Joseph Kariyil also condemned other popular films like Premalu and Manjummel Boys for scenes depicting smoking and drinking, during a speech at a children’s event in Kerala.
On the work front, Varun was last seen in the 2023 film Bawaal, alongside Janhvi Kapoor, which explored the struggles of a married couple. Up next, he’s set to star in Kalees’ Baby John, a Hindi remake of Atlee’s 2016 film Theri, featuring Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi.
Talking about the film with Pinkvilla, Varun Dhwan said, “All I can say is it’s a mass-action entertainer. There is a lot of entertainment in the film, which I love as well. And I’m just going to give it my all.”
He is also part of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, directed by Shashank Khaitan, with Janhvi and Sanya Malhotra. Moreover, Varun will debut in the web series Citadel: Honey Bunny, directed by Raj & DK, on Prime Video, co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu.
