The Olympics craze has taken over all spheres of life. While many celebrities are attending the event to watch athletes perform their best, others are also making sure to prioritise it. The same was true for Adele. She exemplified this by taking a break during her concert in Munich, Germany, to catch a significant Olympic event. The 36-year-old Grammy winner is currently performing a series of shows which began on Friday, August 2.
On Day 2 of her concert, she decided to pause her show to watch the finale of the women’s 100-meter race, the event that featured the United States’ Sha’Carri Richardson. In a video going viral on the internet, Adele could be seen pausing her concert mid-way to broadcast the women’s 100m final race on the large screens at Messe Munchen, the area that was packed with a massive crowd of thousands. Her fans also took delight in the special screening.

The Munich crowd remained glued to the screens as Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia won the gold medal, while Sha’Carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson won silver and bronze, respectively. After the winner’s announcement, the Easy on Me singer even asked her audience to give the runner-up a hand for the victory. “Let’s give her a round of applause! Let’s get on with the show. Fantastic, St. Lucia!” she said.
Notably, Adele had the Olympics on her mind all the time, including her opening night on Friday. From giving a shoutout to US gymnast Simone Biles for winning multiple gold medals at the Games to appreciating their hard work and movements, she spoke highly about the “world-class athletes.”
For those unaware, Adele launched her 10-show residency in Munich on Friday, August 2. She would be playing on select days throughout the month at the open-air venue, which has a capacity of 80,000 people. This is the first time Adele has been performing in mainland Europe since 2016, as per the website for the residency.

“Pretty much slap bang in the middle of Europe? In Munich? That’s a bit random but still fabulous! Right after the Euros? Come on England! With the Olympics next door? Go on Simone!” she wrote on Instagram.
