Ajay Devgn is one of the accomplished actors in Bollywood and has carved a massive fan base with his pathbreaking performances. Some of his hits include The Legend of Bhagat Singh, Apaharan and Drishyam. Ajay got to enact a dual role in Hindustan Ki Kasam, directed by his father and action director Veeru Devgan. This remains the only film in which Veeru Devgan had directed his son. Hindustan Ki Kasam was an average grosser, despite taking a bumper opening. This film broke the opening day record in India at the time of its release and managed to do average business at the box office. Produced at a budget of Rs 13 crore, this film garnered Rs 23 crore at the box office. Veeru Devgan was one of the prominent action directors in the film industry, who worked in more than 200 films including Lal Baadshah, Mr Natwarlal, Phool aur Kaante and many more. He died on May 27, 2019, from a heart attack at the age of 84.
Ajay Devgn once shared an interesting anecdote about how his father came to his rescue when he had gotten into a public brawl during his college days. He spoke about the incident on a chat show. Ajay, who had not debuted in films at that point, was still unknown to the common public. He was once travelling with his close friend, Sajid Khan, in a car when it accidentally collided with a bike.
The crowd then surrounded him from all sides, and the matter soon snowballed into a fight, with Ajay being manhandled. As soon as Veeru Devgan got to know about this, he sent 200 of his trained fighters to the spot immediately to rescue his son. This scared away the people of the colony who had picked a fight with the actor.
