Actress Madhoo made her Bollywood debut in Phool Aur Kaante. Eventually, she rose to stardom after she participated in Mani Ratnam’s 1992 film Roja. The actress has made her Hindi film comeback with Kartam Bhugtam alongside Shreyas Talpade and Vijay Raaz.
In a recent interview, the actress shared some anecdotes from the past, and one of them included the megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Madhoo recalled an event in which she got to play cricket with Amitabh Bachchan and contributed to the team’s victory. To celebrate, Amitabh Bachchan lifted her up and led her on a victory lap around the stadium.
In conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Madhoo remembered hearing Ronit Roy talk about his blue sapphire stone being good for him back in the 1990s, and she knew she wanted to wear it as well.
She then narrated how she participated in a charity cricket match with other cricketers and celebrities. She was playing for a team led by Amitabh Bachchan. They stated that the match was held in Hyderabad, and there was a huge gathering. Madhoo stated that when she finally stepped up to bat, she hit the ball and scored two runs. In the end, she caught the ball and helped get the final wicket. She recalled, “Then I heard the claps of those thousands of people. I never heard that as an actor but I felt that. Amit ji picked me up and did a victory lap. I just knew this stone was lucky.”
Earlier in an interview, Madhoo stated that her family linkages to Hema Malini and Juhi Chawla did not help her too much to establish her career. However, she stated that her relationship with Hema Malini has earned her respect in the industry. Madhoo is Hema Malini’s cousin.
In an interview with Zoom Entertainment, Madhoo said, “Me coming from Hema ji’s family had an impact, and only a good impact. The thing is, coming from the home of an artist of Hema ji’s stature gave me a lot of dignity.” She stated that she valued that respect. Although it did not give her a movie or appreciation, it provided her with access that many aspiring actresses struggle for. Madhoo was last seen in the Ravi Teja film Eagle, which was released in January.
