Lodha said the Central Railway will not put any mega block during the Ganesh festival after he spoke to the general manager Naresh Lalwani. According to a notification, the Central Railway will be putting a mega block on the route’s up and down slow line between Thane and Kalyan stations from 11 am to 4 pm.
“I have spoken to the Central Railway general manager Naresh Lalwani ji. I have requested him not to keep any mega block in Mumbai during the Ganesh festival, which he agreed to. So, there won’t be any mega block on the route,” the BJP leader said.
Every year, lakhs travel to their villages in the Konkan region from Mumbai to observe Ganesh Chaturthi. It is one of the biggest festivals in the region as well as Mumbai. It becomes difficult for people to get train or bus tickets during the 10-day festival. Taking into consideration the festival’s popularity, special Konkan-bound trains have been started for devotees.
Six special trains called ‘Namo Express’ are running to the Konkan region, while more than 300 buses have been arranged as well. In a press conference earlier, the BJP had announced prizes worth Rs 17 lakh for ‘Mumbaicha Morya 2023’ Ganpati competition for the ‘Best Idol’, ‘Best Decoration’ and ‘Best Cleanliness’ around a pandal. On Friday, deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis flagged off a train to Konkan from Dadar station.
