Starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, Echo is set to reveal the origins of the deaf Choctaw superhero, who was first introduced in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.

‘No bad deed goes unpunished’ in the first trailer of the upcoming Marvel miniseries Echo. Starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, the show is set to reveal the origins of the deaf Choctaw superhero, who was first introduced in the Disney+ series Hawkeye. She is the first Native American character, who speaks in American Sign Language (ASL) to get a superhero series. Maya returns hometown to face her ominous past while being chased by a daredevil crime lord Wilson Fisk played by Vincent D’Onofrio. He was also seen in Hawkeye working alongside Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Devery Jacobs’ Bonnie. And you know, things are about to turn dark when the trailer begins with the kingpin smashing the head of an ice cream vendor.

The trailer begins with a young Maya getting sarcastically mocked by the vendor, for which the latter paid a horrific price. “Maya I see everything that you are. I always have," says the crime lord while blood covers his hand from the violent bashing. The scene cuts through to show adult Maya making an action-packed entry in a fighting sequence before she visits a grave."You have so much pain in you, so much rage that you can’t contain it," the Kingpin says in narration as he continues to hunt her down.

Flashes from high-octane bike ride scenes, a hostage situation, a difficult childbirth in the woods, and brutal killings follow suit before the menacing antagonist says “You and I are the same." A special mention is also given to Maya’s indigenous roots with a scene showing native Americans dancing and grooving.

The trailer ends on a thrilling note with Maya aiming her gun at the crime lord who asks her, “So, who’s the monster?
