A massive fire broke out in Mumbai’s Oshiwara furniture market in Jogeshwari, resulting in over 100 shops being gutted. Attempts to douse the fire were started as soon as possible and eight fire engines arrived on the spot, reports said. So far, there are no reports of any injuries or casualties.

The incident took place on Monday morning at around 11 am at a furniture godown. Some ambulances have also arrived on the spot, in case any injury is reported.

According to an IANS report, the market, which sells, old, new, wooden and metal, refurbished or custom-made furniture, is a popular destination for residential or commercial consumers wanting to decorate their homes or offices, with even foreigners occasionally dropping in for antique pieces available here.

The cause of the blaze or the damage caused is not known and the fire-fighting operations are underway, said the BMC Disaster Control.
