The original idol of Ram Lalla Virajman will be shifted to the new Ram Temple on the evening of January 21 after the Shayan Aarti at 8 pm. The original idols of his brothers, Lord Lakshman, Shatrughan and Bharat, along with of Lord Hanuman, will also be shifted to the temple.

News18 had earlier reported that the original idols will also be shifted to the new temple ahead of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony on January 22. The significance of shifting the original idols on the evening of January 21 is that Ram Lalla Virajman will open his eyes in the new grand temple tomorrow after being in a tent and a temporary structure for 70 years.

It is after decades that Ram Lalla Virajman has not seen devotees for two days as the temple was closed on January 20 and 21 — now he will see them in the new Ram Temple. Ram Lalla Virajman could not have been shifted earlier on January 19 and 20 because he is given a daily Bhog while the new Lord Ram idol can’t be given the Bhog yet before the Pran Pratishtha. So, it would have looked odd for one idol of the God getting Bhog and the other not, point out saints and seers in Ayodhya.

The 51-inch tall new idol of Lord Ram Lalla has been installed on a pedestal inside the Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) of the Ram Temple and the original idols of Lord Ram (Ram Lalla Virajman) and his brothers will be installed in front of the new idol inside the Garbhagriha. The original idols, which have been worshipped since 1949.

The original idol of Ram Lalla is just six inches in height while the idols of his brothers, Lakshman, Bharat and Shatrughana, and Lord Hanuman, are even smaller. The Ram Temple trust had hence taken the decision to make a bigger standing idol of Ram Lalla so that devotees can get a grand Darshan of the deity. The devotees will now be able to have a joint Darshan of the new idol as well as the original idols of Ram Lalla and his brothers.

It is Ram Lalla Virajman who had won the court case regarding the Ram Janmabhoomi dispute. The original idols are placed on a Singhasan (pedestal) inside the make-shift temple and will be shifted to the Garbhagriha in the same form.
