IndiGo has announced a direct flight between Delhi and Arunachal Pradesh. The new flight service will begin on October 2, connecting the Northeastern state with the national capital. This will be the only direct flight between Delhi and Itanagar.
The move intends to improve accessibility throughout the country and thereby promote ease of travel by providing more flying options. The carrier now offers two direct flights from Itanagar’s Donyi Polo airport. One is from Itanagar to Mumbai and the other from Itanagar to Kolkata as the two options. On November 28, 2022, both of these flights began operations from the airport.
“We are pleased to introduce direct connectivity between Itanagar and Delhi, in addition to our direct flights between Itanagar and Mumbai as well as Kolkata. Through this new route, we aim to significantly enhance domestic connectivity and accessibility between the commercial-metropolitan hub of the national capital region and the enchanting land of dawn-lit mountains, Itanagar,” IndiGo, Head of Global Sales, Vinay Malhotra said in a statement. This effort is meant to boost regional growth through promoting job opportunities, tourism, trade, and overall economic development, Malhotra added.
He stated that the low-cost carrier has stayed committed to enhancing accessibility in the northeast over the years, creating connections to seven of the region’s eight states. IndiGo’s commitment to offering our valued passengers with inexpensive, on-time, courteous, and smooth travel experiences over a vast network remains unwavering, Malhotra states.

Visitors can also go to the glacier lakes of Sangetser and Sela, meditate at Taktsang Gompa, or climb Gorichen Peak for panoramic views of the town below. Other popular tourist attractions include Gekar Sinyi or Ganga Lake, a craft centre and bazaar, a zoological park, Indira Gandhi Park, Polo Park, and a Buddhist temple.
