Dense Fog Affects Flight Ops, Delays Trains in Delhi; Schools Reopen with Restricted Timings

Dense fog continues to blanket Delhi and northern India, causing challenges for flights and trains connecting the national capital with the rest of the country. Several flyers received messages from airlines informing them of massive delays due to the fog situation.

After a two-week winter break, the schools Delhi are reopening today, albeit with restricted timings due to severe cold.

Several flights have also been delayed due to fog in the Delhi Airport, leaving scores of passengers waiting for their trips. Several airlines have advised flyers to stay informed about their flight details, as delays are a part of foggy mornings.

Amid severe fog conditions, Delhi Airport has also released an advisory urging passengers to contact airlines before their journey.

“Due to dense fog, flight operations at Delhi Airport may be impacted. Passengers are urged to reach out to the respective airline for the latest flight information,” conveyed the airport authority in a statement on ‘X’.

The statement also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.

Earlier on Sunday, low visibility and dense fog in North India affected IndiGo flight operations, causing inconvenience for air travelers.

Train Movement Hit

Over 30 trains scheduled to arrive at or depart from New Delhi Railway Station are experiencing delays. Notably, premium trains like Swarna Shatabdi are facing delays exceeding 6 hours. T

he list of affected trains includes prominent ones such as Indore Shatabdi, Jammu Rajdhani, Lucknow Shatabdi, Howrah Rajdhani, and several VIP trains.

Other mail/express trains are also impacted, with Sachkhand Express facing a delay of over 17 hours, Gorakhdham Express with a delay exceeding 9 hours, Swatantrata Senani experiencing a delay of over 14 hours, and Bihar Sampark Kranti encountering a delay of more than 27 hours.
