India will face Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on October 11. Afghanistan had a poor showing in the Asia Cup as they failed to make the Super Four stage. They also failed to win their CWC opener against Bangladesh. The Afghans lost the game by six wickets. Mehidy Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan had some great performances in the match, that helped Bangladesh pick up the victory. The Afghans will now be looking to get back to winning ways as they take on India next. It will definitely be a challenge to overcome the host side in Delhi.
India started their World Cup campaign on a winning note. They beat Australia by six wickets in Chepauk, Chennai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in their first game. Indian spinners shone brightly, doing most of the heavy lifting during the first innings of the game. In the second half, India were shocked as Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan departed without scoring a single run. However, Virat Kohli formed a formidable partnership with KL Rahul to stabilise the innings and record an easy victory.
