Neeraj Chopra recently scripted history as he became the first Indian to clinch a gold medal at the World Athletics Championships. The ace javelin thrower with an 88.17m throw to finish at the top of the podium. Amid his glorious victory, many videos and images surfaced as the nation lauded the star player. Now, another video which is going viral features Chopra at an award ceremony, giving an acceptance speech. The video is from the fourth edition of Indian Sports Honours (ISH), which was held in Mumbai in March.

On receiving an award, the ace player gave an acceptance speech in his mother tongue. Being unapologetically himself is something that Chopra is best at and this has won hearts. The video has been uploaded on Reddit.

Sindhu, Sachin and Geet Sethi, he’s India’s best ever sportsperson in the modern era (Dhyan Chand is no.1),” commented one of Chopra’s fans. Another person wrote, “This is not a sign of illiteracy or anything else. But a pure sign that this dude lacks insecurity. I hope more Indians were like him.”

Meanwhile, earlier, an old video which went viral showed Chopra talking about how he started his journey with Javelin. In the video, Chopra is at an event just when the anchor comes to him and asks, “How did Javelin happen? Tell us the story.” To this, Chopra responded by saying that god made it happen for him. He explained how people played different sports in his village. He saw his seniors play javelin and at that time he did not even know what it was. “This is how all of it started and today I am here in front of you,” he said.
