The inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) saw Royal Challengers Bangalore finish fifth in the five-team competition earlier this year. The Smriti Mandhana-led franchise lost five matches in a row at the start of their campaign before registering back-to-back wins.
Sophie Devine was their top run-getter with 266 runs followed by star allrounder Ellyse Perry who scored 253. Among the bowlers, spinner Shreyanka Patil took six wickets from seven games while Sobhana Asha five from as many matches.
A total of 165 players went under the gavel in Mumbai ahead of the second season of WPL. 104 of them were Indians and the rest overseas.
