In partnership with TVS Racing, TVS Motor Company has introduced India’s first electric two-wheeler – TVS Apache RTE for racing championship.
The TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship (e-OMC) will make its debut on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the 4th round of the Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship (INMRC). Furthermore, TVS Racing has chosen eight riders to demonstrate their abilities on the newly created TVS Apache RTE (Racing Throttle Electric) race motorcycles manufactured specifically for this competition. The decision comes at a time when the country’s adoption of electric vehicles is on the rise.
Regarding the motorcycle, the Apache RTE appears to be a design adaption of the company’s RR 310 One Make Championship race bike. The fairing, on the other hand, is much larger and smoother in order to reduce drag and increase aerodynamics. According to TVS, the fairing and wheels are completely constructed of carbon fibre.
TVS Apache RTE: Features
The TVS Apache RTE race motorcycles include a number of technologies, including a liquid-cooled motor with a high power-to-weight ratio and a liquid-cooled motor controller. The battery pack includes high-power cells with modern chemistry as well as a carbon fibre battery container that also functions as a structural part of the chassis.
Other technological aspects include a custom Battery Management System outfitted with specialised algorithms for advanced configuration management and better safety. The motor spindle, which is coupled to the back wheel via sprockets and roller chain, assures peak performance. In addition, Ohlins components are used in the suspension system, while Brembo components are used in the braking system, including a 320mm front disc, callipers, and master cylinder.
Additionally, the TVS Apache RTE race motorcycles are outfitted with carbon fibre wheels for weight reduction and improved performance, as well as Pirelli Super Corsa tyres for increased grip.
“Many of the technologies that we pioneered in our racing machines have made way to our production vehicles, giving shape to our ‘track to road’ philosophy. In line with our vision of providing exciting and sustainable mobility solutions, we are thrilled to announce the debut of India’s first-ever EV two-wheeler racing,” Sudarshan Venu, Managing Director, TVS Motor Company said as per The Hindu. He further feels that the TVS Racing e-OMC will not only set new norms in the racing arena, but will also show the potential of electric vehicles in delivering high-octane and thrilling racing experiences for the entire globe to see.
With the launch of the new X electric scooter, TVS has lately expanded its electric two-wheeler offering in India.
