The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad was packed with fans of Indian cricket team on on Saturday as the Rohit Sharma-led side faced Pakistan in an ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 contest. The Indian team produced a sparkling all-round effort bossing over their rivals in a one-sided affair as they stormed to a seven-wicket win.
Moments after Shreyas Iyer reached his half-century with a four that also was the winning shot, the fans began singing ‘Vande Mataram’ in unison in incredible scenes.

India opted to bowl first and limited Pakistan to just 191 in 42.5 overs with an impressive bowling display led by player-of-the-match Jasprit Bumrah. India used six bowlers and five of them took two wickets apiece.
Pakistan were in a strong position at one stage when their captain Babar Azam was batting alongside Mohammad Rizwan with the pair stitching a solid partnership. At 155/2, they looked set for a competitive total before a collapse that saw them lost eight wickets for the addition of just 36 runs.
Babar was their top-scorer with 50 while Rizwan made 49.
In reply, India lost Shubman Gill in the third over after a quick start. Rohit Sharma continued his good form and followed his century against Afghanistan with another big innings that saw him hit 86 off 63 with the help of six fours and as many sixes.
Virat Kohli walked to the middle amidst a loud reception and he did struck three fours including two gorgeous drives but fell on 16.
Rohit looked set for a second straight hundred but was undone by an off-cutter from Shaheen Afridi before Shreyas (53*) and KL Rahul (19*) completed a facile victory.
The win, India’s third of the tournament, took them top of the points table.
