Bihar CM Nitish Kumar allying with retrograde forces of 1990s: BJP

Patna: The BJP on Saturday attacked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for talking about vision 2025 for

development of Bihar, but "allying with retrograde forces of 1990s".

"Kumar talks about a vision 2025 for development of Bihar, but has gone into alliance with retrograde forces of the 1990s. We want to ask him how he will take the state ahead by allying with RJD chief Lalu Prasad who dragged Bihar down," Bhupendra Yadav, BJP General Secretary and In-charge of Bihar told reporters in Patna.

"Kumar has ignored basic things related to development in Bihar, so his 'dastak' (knocking at doors) campaign among the people will not help. I have been touring across the state and see lack of necessary growth here," he said.

Referring to International Yoga Day, he said "Yoga Day was celebrated in 176 countries on an initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kumar and Prasad said much against it.

But the fact is that they did not do anything to honour Bihar School of Yoga at Munger, which is the first of its kind

institution and from where monks have gone world over to teach yoga and thousands of students got educated."

Yadav alleged that villages in riverine areas of the Ganga were without electricity and the state government did not spend even Rs 20 lakh to install solar power plants there.

He further alleged that Kumar indulged in a Rs 500 crore international museum project, but did not pay any attention towards constructing hostels and dormitories for students in the state.

"Similarly historical places like Janaki Pokhar, Lord Mahavir's birth place in Vaishali district and Saurath in Mithilanchal have been neglected. This is not the way to show your respect to the state," Yadav said.

The party also revealed that its own mass contact programme in view of the upcoming Assembly elections was already on with its 14 lakh workers already moving across the length and breadth of Bihar.

The BJP Bihar in-charge said the party had got 80 lakh new members and a contact campaign had been started among them.

"We have already visited all polling stations and we do not need to indulge in anything like 'har ghar dastak'. Our contact programme is already going on in the state," he added.

Claiming that over one-third countries in the world where people practise Buddhism repose their faith in Bihar, Yadav said BJP would do everything for its development while providing representation to all castes and categories to usher in a social change. He also hit out at the way electoral politics was being practised on caste-lines.

Yadav also criticised the way dynastic politics was being practised by opposition parties and said other talented persons should also be given a chance.
