Even as the National Democratic Alliance gets ready to announce the seat sharing for Bihar Assembly elections, voices of dissent have begun to appear. Lok Janshakti Party MP from Vaishali Rama Kishore Singh charged his party chief Ram Vilas Paswan of only consulting his family members while deciding on the number of seats the party should contest.
"Loyal party workers are being sidelined and only the family is being promoted. I have been in politics for the last many years and became MLA during Lalu Prasad's rule. I have also won when Nitish Kumar came to power and now I am Lok Sabha MP. But I was not consulted about the seats. I came to know it only from the media. Paswan decided on it by speaking to his son Chirag and brother Ramchandra. I cannot be ignored, I have my options open," Singh, whose party is a part of the NDA, told IBNLive.
Singh, LJP's chief whip in the Lok Sabha, accused Paswan of accepting a far lesser number of seats than the party is capable of contesting on and winning. Some Assembly election ticket seekers who had come to meet Singh also echoed his views.
The Vaishali MP, who has several criminal cases registered against him including murder and attempt to murder, added that his party had many capable candidates for Assembly elections and they may contest as rebels if they are denied the ticket.
While Paswan's son Chirag is the Jamui MP, Ramchandra represents Samastipur in the Lok Sabha.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has decided to contest on 160 of the 243 seats leaving only 83 for its allies LJP (40), Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (25) and Hindustani Awam Morcha (18). A formal announcement will be made on Saturday evening.
Bihar will vote in five phases on October 12, 15, 28, November 1 and 5 to elect a new Assembly. Counting of votes will take place on November 8.
