New Delhi: Political tempers are running high after AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi's statement that he would never chant 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. Now, an Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shyam Prakash Dwiwedi has announced a reward of Rs 1 crore to whoever cuts Owaisi's tongue.
Dwiwedi has also called Owaisi a traitor and said he has no right to stay in India.
"'Humko lagta hai woh desh ka gaddar hai aur iss tarah se Bharat mei reh ke, 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' bolne se iss tarah se usko parhej hai toh humko nai lagta unko Bharat mei rehne ka adhikaar hai. Humara yahi kehna hai jiss jibhwa se iss tarah ka woh bayanbaji karte hai, usko kaat ke lane wale ko 1 crore rupaye inaam dunga'. (I believe he is a traitor and if he has any objection in saying 'Bharat Mata ki jai' then he does not deserve to stay in the country. His tongue should be cut and anyone who does will be rewarded with Rs 1 crore)," said Dwivedi.
Posters branding Owaisi, the Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad, as a "traitor" and charging him with causing "insult of Bharat Mata" appeared at the entrance of his official residence on Ashoka Road in the national capital on Wednesday.
Rejecting RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's suggestions and methods to infuse patriotism in the young generation, Owaisi had said he would not chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' even if a knife is put to his throat.
"I don't chant that slogan. What are you going to do, Bhagwat sahab?" he had said at a rally in Udgir tehsil of Latur district in Maharashtra on February 13. "Nowhere in the Constitution it says that one should say Bharat Mata ki Jai," he had added.
