Najma Heptullah said it was highly irresponsible on the part of Tihar authorities that a prime accused in a high-profile case had committed suicide.
New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said it will raise in Parliament the suicide in Tihar jail on Monday of Ram Singh, main accused in the Dec 16 gangrape of a 23-year-old.
"We want to know the circumstances behind the suicide of Ram Singh. It is highly irresponsible on the part of Tihar authorities that an inmate and prime accused in a high-profile case commits suicide," said BJP leader Najma Heptullah.
Saying that the BJP would raise the matter in parliament, Heptullah said: "We want to know how it will impact the trial and why he (Ram Singh) was not under electronic surveillance."
