BJP VP claims Modi can't expand ministry as party has a smaller talent pool, later says he was misquoted
While there has been no official statement from the BJP, the Congress was quick to take a dig at the central government.

News Delhi: BJP vice president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe has landed himself in a huge controversy by claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to expand his ministry but Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has a smaller talent pool than the Congress. Soon after the comments which Vinay Sahasrabuddhe made to Reuters came into public domain, he retracted claiming that he has been misquoted.

Sahasrabuddhe was quoted by Reuters as saying, "Challenge is to identify the right candidates who can deliver fast-paced reforms. Compared to the Congress, we have a smaller talent pool and less exposure. Modi has embarked on process of fine-tuning government machinery and send concrete signal that inefficiency will be checked."

But he soon went back on his words by claiming that he was only pointing out that ministers in the Modi government have lesser experience that those who held the portfolios in the previous regime.

Speaking to CNN-IBN he retracted the comment saying, "I have been misquoted, I said that Congress was in power for more time thats why they have more experienced people. There is absolutely no dearth of talent in BJP and my point was only about lack of exposure."

While there has been no official statement from the BJP, the Congress was quick to take a dig at the government. "If he has said this, then he is saying what is true."

Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said the Modi government was ineffective and its lack of experience was hindering the country's development.
