New Delhi: The BJP leadership has slammed the "double standards" applied in granting bail in the cash-for-votes scam. The party is reported to be unhappy as the bail applications of Sudheendra Kulkarni, former aide of LK Advani, and two other former BJP MPs have been rejected even though former Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh has got bail on medical grounds.
BJP MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, will visit Kulkarni and the two former MPs - Faggan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Bhagora - in Tihar Jail on Tuesday.
BJP leader Arun Jaitley had met the trio, who are accussed in the cash-for-votes scam, on Monday.
The Delhi High Court granted bail to Amar Singh's in the cash-for-votes scam on humanitarian grounds on Monday
But the court restrained Amar Singh from travelling abroad and asked him to deposit his passport with the court. The court also asked Singh to furnish two sureties of Rs 50 lakh each.
Amar Singh's lawyer argued that his medical condition required constant monitoring and may be a visit to his doctor in Singapore where the MP had undergone renal transplant.
He has been suffering from UTI, increase serum creatinine, vitamin B12 deficiency and increased TSH. His medical report by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had said that he had developed severe abdominal pain and was prone to infection as he had undergone renal transplant.
