'Cong hoping to find ally for UPA from UP polls'
BJP leader Arun Jaitley declared that his party would not have any alliance with either the BSP or the Samajwadi Party in UP.

Rampur: BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Saturday claimed that the Congress party is contesting the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections with the "hope" of finding an ally to support its government at the Centre.

"The Congress is not fighting the UP elections to form a government. It is hoping that after the UP election results it will be able to find an alternative to the Trinamool Congress," Jaitley told a public meeting in Rampur.

"In the present situation the Congress is not even in a position to face Parliament sessions. Earlier only the Opposition used to oppose but now even their allies like Trinamool oppose them," he said.

The BJP leader declared that his party would not have any alliance with either the BSP or the Samajwadi Party, and challenged the Congress to make a similar decision.

"The BSP and the SP have been the fountainhead of corruption in Uttar Pradesh and the BJP will not have any alliance with either of them," Jaitley said.

"The Congress is hoping that the BSP or the SP would need their support to form government in Uttar Pradesh and in result it would get support for its government in Delhi," he said.

Since Congress was not in a moral position to speak against corruption in UP, it was attempting to win votes by promising reservation to a particular community, Jaitley said.

"The Constitution does not give sanction for reservation on the basis of religion. To polarise the society before the UP elections Congress had promised a 9 per cent reservation while Mulayam promises double of that," he said, adding that the BJP is the only party that is openly opposing these reservations which go against the Constitution.
