Congress hits out at Modi for skipping Lalit Modi controversy in his 'Mann Ki Baat'
"The biggest promise PM Modi made was to bring back black money, we request the PM to keep the promise," said Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.

New Delhi: Upping the ante against the Centre, the Congress on Sunday once again attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for being silent on former Indian Premier League chief Lalit Modi controversy in which Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Sushma Swaraj and Vasundhara Raje have been in line of fire.

In hs ninth edition of the radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', Modi spoke on a host of issues and praised his government by calling it 'Kaam Ki Sarkar' but did not make any mention of the controversy surrounding his ministers.

The Congress, on the other hand, intensified its attack and asked the Prime Minister to fulfil his promise on black money.

"In 2013, Chidambaram wrote another to his UK counterpart, that Lalit Modi has to be extradited, but the UK government did not reply. The PM identifies himself as a world leader, talks about the world, did he write a letter to bring back Lalit Modi to india? The biggest promise PM Modi made was to bring back black money, we request the PM to keep the promise," said Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.

The government has been left red-faced after External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj admitted to having no objection to Modi’s request to travel out of the United Kingdom for his wife’s treatment. She admitted to having spoken to British MP Keitz Vaz and the British High Commission in this regard.

Another BJP who came in the line of fire was Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje who signed documents to help Modi get UK stay permit in 2011 when she was the leader of opposition in the state Assembly. The Chief Minister claimed that she helped him as a friend.

The BJP hit back at Congress for questioning the Prime Minister. "The problem with the Congress party is that corruption is so engulfed in their mindsets that they are unable to come out of it. Being a victim of this mindset they are making such ridiculous demands like explanation and resignation by PM," said BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi.
