Delhi: The screening committee of the Congress party will hold its final meeting to finalise the names of candidates on Wednesday.
The Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting will be held day after. The CEC will ratify the names selected by the screening committee. It can also change some names.
It is headed by the Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The list of the candidates for Delhi elections is likely to be declared between the 7th and 9th of November.
The Congress has 43 MLAs in the current Assembly. There has been a huge demand for the tickets.
The Congress is likely to deny ticket to some sitting MLAs and may field new faces to take on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Meanwhile, the AAP is leaving no stone unturned to make its presence felt and upset the Congress, which has been ruling Delhi since last 15 years, as well as the BJP.
The rise of the AAP has set the stage for a triangular contest in the Delhi polls.
Earlier, in 2008 the Congress had won 43 seats against 24 of the BJP.
