New Delhi: Former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna is all set to join BJP today in Delhi, around seven weeks after he resigned from Congress.
According to the sources, SM Krishna will be joining BJP around 4 pm in Delhi.
Krishna will be inducted into the saffron party in the presence of its National President Amit Shah and other leaders, including Ananth Kumar, Sadananda Gowda and CT Ravi, they added.
The former Karnataka CM had announced his resignation from Congress on 29th January, saying the party was in a “state of confusion” on whether it needed mass leaders or not. But according to the intel sources, SM Krishna was unhappy with being ignored by the party high command.
It is learnt that the BJP State unit is keen to have SM Krishna into its fold before by-elections to the Nanjangud and Gundlupet Assembly constituencies are completed, as it wants to use his political influence in this part of the State to its advantage.
The BJP was planning to organise a reception for Krishna when he arrives at the Bengaluru International Airport from New Delhi on Thursday morning. The party wants to take him in a procession from the airport to its State headquarters in Malleshwaram. Party workers would take out a motorbike rally from the airport to the BJP office.
BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa will not attend SM Krishna’s BJP joining programme as he will be campaigning in Nanjangud and Gundlupet. Other prominent BJP leaders from the State would be present, it is learnt.
