Government to begin discussion with regional parties on Land Acquisition Bill

New Delhi: The Government has decided to begin discussion with regional parties on Land Acquisition Bill and is seeking support from Samajwadi Party (SP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC).

The bill was discussed in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday where Finance Minister Arun Jaitley defended the bill. He said that the government is committed to the welfare of farmers and that they need more land for creating more jobs in the the rural sector.

The opposition parties are against the Bill accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government of bulldozing its way through in Parliament.

The bill will now be taken in Parliament after March 15 and the government is also likely to introduce coal , insurance and motor vehicle bills in Lok Sabha next week.
