Patna: It is just two days to go for the battle for Bihar, and there is bad news for Lalu Yadav. Opinion Polls show that his rival Nitish Kumar is a clear favourite to win — 73 per cent people polled say they are happy with the chief minister's work.

With just two days to go for the first phase of Bihar elections, the opinion polls have spoken and it is advantage Nitish Kumar.

The Week Voter poll is giving a slight edge to Nitish's JDU-BJP alliance with 111 seats in comparison to 104 seats for Lalu, Paswan and Congress put together.

While the RJD and LJP are contesting on a pre-poll alliance, Congress is not part of any formal coalition.

According to The Week survey, anti-incumbency may be a big factor but Nitish Kumar's popularity has not declined. 57 per cent of the respondents want Nitish back as Chief Minister while only 21 per cent would go for Lalu Prasad Yadav as the next Chief Minister.

But it is the Star News AC Nielsen poll, which may bring a big smile on the Bihar CM's face.

According to the survey, Nitish's alliance is set to sweep the polls with a clear majority of 170 seats with Lalu Yadav set for his worst performance ever. His RJD managing just 34 seats. The survey also predicts 22 seats for Congress, which is 13 seats more than the party's 2005 seat count.

The Star News AC-Nielsen poll also suggests Bihar voters are satisfied with his performance. 73 per cent respondents said that they are happy with the CM's work. The JDU-BJP alliance also got a thumbs-up with 73 per cent terming the governance as good.
