Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui who resigned from the Congress party on Thursday after 48 years of association joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Saturday.

In a conversation with reporters on Friday, the Deputy CM said, “Baba Siddique will join NCP on February 10, evening, and on February 11, some more will join the party.”

After joining NCP, Baba Siddique said on Saturday, “Now, it is done. Ab kya rona, jab chidiya chug gayi khet. It was done with dhol, not quietly. When you are not being listened to, you should move to the side…I have a lot to say, but someone should answer. I am sad but happy too. I am sad because I am not thick-skinned.”

On Thursday, Congress MLA Baba Siddique, representing the high profile Bandra area in Mumbai announced his resignation from the Congress.

A prominent minority face of the Mumbai Congress, Siddique also served as a minister when the Congress-NCP coalition was in power.

Taking to X, Siddique said, “I joined the Indian National Congress party as a young teenager and it has been a significant journey lasting 48 years. Today I resign from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress Party with immediate effect.”

While thanking everyone who has been a part of his journey he said that there’s a lot that he would have liked to express but some things are better left unsaid.
