Jharkhand elections result: Who said what
Riding high on the Narendra Modi wave, the BJP has doubled its tally in the elections.

New Delhi: The current trends show that the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies are likely to form the government in Jharkhand. But the BJP is till short of the half-way mark of 41 seats in the 81-member Assembly as per the latest trends. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is at number two and the Congress is at a distant third.

However, riding high on the Narendra Modi wave, the BJP has doubled its tally in the elections.

Here is who said what:

Arjun Munda, BJP: It's for the party to decide who will be the next chief minister.

Priyanka Chaturvedi, Congress: This year has not been good for us. We have accepted the verdict of the people. We have to change a lot of things.

Rajnath Singh, BJP: The BJP will form governments in J&K and Jharkhand.

BK Hariprasad, Congress: It is a setback for us. We didn't expect such a poor result. It's my personal view that we shouldn't have broken ties with the JMM ahead of elections. The state leadership wanted to go alone, that according to me has hurt the party. We have been trying to form a government in Jharkhand for several years, but we haven't been successful. We will have to go back to party workers now.

Prakash Javdekar, BJP: We are bringing to end the uncertainty that has prevailed in Jharkhand. Now the state will see the much needed development that it was missing.

Rajiv Shukla, Congress: The Congress's performance is very bad in jharkhad. We were not expecting such a low tally. We should have chosen the right allies in Jharkhand. Regional parties have gained.
