JP Nadda Launches ‘Lokkho Sonar Bangla’ Campaign, Says 'Scared' Mamata Trying to Shield Corrupt
Nadda accused Banerjee for ‘not implementing’ the PM Kisan scheme in West Bengal and vowed to implement it once BJP formed government.

Kolkata: BJP president JP Nadda on Thursday launched the ‘Lokkho Sonar Bangla’ campaign, through which the party plans to reach out to the masses in West Bengal‘s 294 Assembly constituencies, with the slogan ‘corruption-mukt, vikas yukt‘ (corruption free and developing) Bengal.

While launching tableaus that will travel in all the constituencies, Nadda said, “The campaign will be conducted from March 3 to March 20. Our ‘raths’ (chariots) with LED lights will reach out to the people with our ‘Sonar Bangla’ vision. There will be nearly 30,000 suggestion boxes distributed across 294 constituencies through which we will get the feedback of people and their suggestions on how to make a ‘corruption-mukt, vikas yukt’ Bengal.”

While hitting out at chief minister Mamata Banerjee, Nadda said, “TMC siphoned off money and food grains sent by the Centre for the affected people during Amphan. The Calcutta high court directed the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to do an audit of the distribution of relief materials and compensation in the aftermath of cyclone Amphan in West Bengal. But a scared Mamatadi challenged the decision in the Supreme Court. This proves that corruption was involved. I would like to ask her, whom she is trying to shelter?”

Nadda said the BJP was “emotionally attached” to Bengal and committed to restore the pride of its culture and spread the vision of Swami Vivekananda, Rabindranath Tagore, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Syama Prasad Mukherjee, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He said, “We want to free Bengal from corruption and we want to ensure development in this sacred land.”

Nadda accused Banerjee for ‘not implementing’ the PM Kisan scheme in West Bengal and vowed to implement it once BJP formed government.

Mamata Banerjee is blocking the central schemes meant for farmers.

He said, “It is unfortunate that there are people who are misleading the farmers (on farm bill). Mamata Banerjee is blocking the central schemes meant for farmers and the people which were launched by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

He said, “It is unfortunate that when our farmers across the country are getting benefits from the PM Kisan scheme, over 70 lakh farmers of West Bengal are deprived of PM Kisan scheme. I want to ask Mamataji, why this welfare scheme has not been implemented in West Bengal. After forming the government not only we will implement the scheme for farmers but also we will clear the past dues which were blocked by Mamata.”

Nadda said that 23 lakh farmers from Bengal had applied for the PM-KISAN scheme. “However, Mamata government has stopped the verification process. Today, West Bengal stands at 24 positions out of 29 states as far as welfare of the farmers are concern. People’s expectation towards TMC is now turned in to their anger due to bad governance,” he alleged.

The BJP chief said that the party, under the leadership of PM Modi, would ensure good governance in Bengal. “Our target is to ensure good governance and development in West Bengal and on other side TMC leaders are busy in minting money through extortion and cut money,” he added.
