Kamal Nath Hits Back at AAP, Says Allegations Politically Motivated
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had on Sunday attacked the Congress, asking Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh if he has absolved Nath for his alleged involvement in 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The battle for Punjab is heating up with each passing day. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is going all guns blazing on Congress over the party's decision to appoint Kamal Nath as its state in-charge.

After the AAP accused Congress of showing callous attitude towards the 1984 riot victims by appointing Kamal Nath as the party in charge, the Congress leader has hit back claiming he was cleared of all charges. He also accused AAP of raking up a pointless controversy.

"Nanavati Commission set up by the BJP government had absolved me in the case. The controversy is politically motivated. Akalis didn't level a charge for all these years. AAP doesn't know what they are taking about," Kamal Nath said in his defence.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had on Sunday attacked the Congress, asking Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh if he has absolved Nath for his alleged involvement in 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

"Capt Amrinder shud state his stand on Kamal Nath. Does Capt absolve Kamal Nath?," Kejriwal tweeted.

The Shiromani Akali Dal has also attacked Congress over the appointment of Kamal Nath, alleging the party has rewarded to the leader who had been "involved" in the anti-Sikh riots in 1984, with a "plum post".

"You have only rubbed salt in our wounds by making this appointment," SAD Secretary and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said.

"Punjabis want to know why the Gandhi family continues to honour the perpetrators of the 1984 genocide with plum party posts. What is the Gandhi family afraid of? Why has it consistently blocked any action against senior leaders including Kamal Nath and Jagdish Tytler," he alleged.
