23. Karera is a state Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Madhya Pradesh and is part of Gwalior Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Karera falls in Shivpuri district and Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh. It is categorised as a rural seat.
There are a total of 2,35,758 voters in the seat, which includes 1,27,232 male voters, and 1,08,524 female voters. In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh elections, Karera recorded a voter turnout of 73.29%. In 2013 the turnout was 72.11%, and in 2008 it was 63.41%.
In 2013, Smt Shakuntla Khatik of INC won the seat by a margin of 10,320 votes (6.28%). Smt Shakuntla Khatik secured 36.11% of the total votes polled.
BJP won this seat in the 2008 Assembly elections with a margin of 12,816 votes (12.24%), registering 34.22% of the total votes polled.
