New Delhi: Trinamool Congress supreme Mamata Banerjee was admitted to a nursing home here for a gall bladder operation on Sunday.
Banerjee was admitted to a nursing home on December 28 last year at the end of a 25-day fast she had undertaken to protest the "forcible" acquisition of farm land in Singur for a Tata Motors' small car plant.
At the time of her release from the nursing home on January 17, attending doctor Sudarshan Ghose Dastidar had said that she had developed gall stones which would be surgically removed at a later date.
While addressing a rally in Singur on Saturday, Banerjee said she would take a break for health reasons but would be back to take charge of protests against the acquisition of land for industries in Singur and Nandigram again.
