New Delhi: The India Today-Axis My India exit poll and ABP news exit poll on Sunday predicted a mammoth BJP victory in the MCD elections, minutes after the voting ended at around 5:30 PM.
Around 46 percent of the electorate had already exercised its franchise by 4 PM. Election Commission said the final turnout was 53.43%.
The India Today exit poll predicted that the BJP will get over 200 wards out of 272, followed by Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party, which is expected to get over 25 wards. The situation looks grim for the Congress party once again. After a series of losses in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and other states, the party is expected to get less than 30 wards, as per the Aaj Tak exit poll.
Here are the Final Numbers (India Today exit poll):
BJP: 202-220
Aam Aadmi Party: 23-33
Congress: 19-31
On the other hand, according to ABP News exit poll, BJP will get 218 wards, followed by Aam Aadmi Party with 24, and Congress with 22 wards. The exit poll also said that 8 wards will go to others.
After the exit polls showed a mammoth BJP win in the Delhi municipal elections, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra took potshots at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who had raked up the EVM controversy. "After the ExitPoll results of MCD in favour of BJP, AAP spokesperson buys excuses in EVM," Patra tweeted.

Polling was held in 270 wards of the three municipal corporations. The election in two wards has been postponed due to the death of candidates.
Close to 1,32,10,206 voters are entitled to exercise their franchise in electing councillors for the 270 wards falling under the three corporations - NDMC (103), SDMC (104) and East Delhi Municipal Corporation (63).
