New Delhi: The Narendra Modi wave have swept Chandigarh as BJP candidate Kirron Kher defeated former railways minister and Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal by 69,642 votes.
The Chandigarh seat witnessed a triangular battle with Aam Aadmi Party candidate Gul Panag also in the fray. Debutante Gul Panag stood at number 3.
There were 17 candidates in the fray and the counting of votes began on Friday morning.
There was an infighting in the Congress as senior party leader Manish Tewari was keen on contesting from Chandigarh but the ticket was given to Bansal.
