Muslims not mere votebank, they're our countrymen: Faridabad BJP candidate Krishan Pal Gurjar
The big players in the fray in Faridabad are four-time Congress MP Avtar Singh Bhadana and first time BJP Lok Sabha candidate Krishan Pal Gurjar.

The big players in the fray in the NCR constituency of Faridabad are four-time Congress MP Avtar Singh Bhadana and first time BJP Lok Sabha candidate and former Haryana BJP chief Krishan Pal Gurjar. Also in the race for the Faridabad seat are INLD's RK Anand and Aam Aadmi Party's young face Purshottam Dagar. Krishan Pal Gurjar, who is also Tigaon MLA, is confident of victory and is riding on the 'Narendra Modi wave'. Speaking to IBNLive, he said, "We will sweep Faridabad this time. While Bhadana will lose miserably, AAP, INLD stand nowhere this time." Following is the transcript of the full interview with Gurjar:

IBNLive: You're fighting the Lok Sabha elections for the first time. What are your expectations?

Krishan Pal Gurjar: We will sweep the Faridabad polls this year. BJP will big win.

IBNLive: Avtar Singh Bhadana has been a four-time MP. His supporters are confident of him winning this time too since he is more of a familiar face in Faridabad.

Krishan Pal Gurjar: He is going to lose miserably this time. It's time for him to go.

IBNLive: But even the INLD is contesting separately this time. Will that not affect your voteshare?

Krishan Pal Gurjar: INLD stands nowhere in these elections.

IBNLive: Is it solely the 'Modi wave' that makes you so confident of winning?

Krishan Pal Gurjar: See, Modi wave is not the sole factor. Yes, you can't deny that there is indeed a Modi wave that will help BJP, but BJP leaders, in their respective states and constituencies have proven themselves. I have been available for people here 24*7. I'm sure we'll win the Faridabad seat.

IBNLive: The BJP has not yet been able to come out with its manifesto. Are internal differences hampering the election related operations of the party?

Krishan Pal Gurjar: There are no differences in the party at all. We all work together. As far as the manifesto is concerned, it's on its way. But the party has made its objectives pretty clear, its vision pretty clear. The manifesto will come soon.

IBNLive: You're saying there are no differences within the party. But senior leader Jaswant Singh has just recently been expelled.

Krishan Pal Gurjar: Only Jaswant Singh can tell you what the matter is. I can confidently say there are no differences in the party.

IBNLive: Varun Gandhi too created a stir with his praise for Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi.

Krishan Pal Gurjar: There is no controversy at all. Varun Gandhi was, is and will remain a dedicated member of the BJP.

IBNLive: Do you think the Hindutva factor and terms like 'communal forces' being used for your party will hamper your voteshare?

Krishan Pal Gurjar: See, Hindutva is the soul of this nation. But that does not make anyone non secular or communal. We believe in taking everyone along in the development of the country. So, we believe in the development of all, whether it be Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs or Christians.

IBNLive: But how do you assure the Muslims? What about the Hindutva image of the BJP?

Krishan Pal Gurjar: I want to make it very clear that Muslims are not mere 'votes' for us. They are our countrymen and we will do the best for them. You will see that when the BJP comes to power. modi is going to take everyone along in the new developed India.

IBNLive: You've been an MLA from Tigaon. Now it comes to the whole of Faridabad. What are your priorities for the city?

Krishan Pal Gurjar: I have a vision for Faridabad. I want to work on every aspect - laws, crime rate, water, electricity, women empowerment, roads, connectivity - everything.

IBNLive: Many in Faridabad say you've been approachable as an MLA. Will you be as approachable if you become an MP?

Krishan Pal Gurjar: I have always been available and will be. Sleeping late or getting up early won't bother me. I want to make this a new Faridabad and I will give my best for that.

IBNLive: We see a lot of caste-based voting in Faridabad.

Krishan Pal Gurjar: A caste doesn't make a leader. So it's not about caste votes for us.

IBNLive: Does the presence and popularity of the AAP worry you?

Krishan Pal Gurjar: Where is AAP? That party went back the way it came. They don't worry me at all. We will win. Modi's Gujarat model will help the whole of India and BJP will prove its worth.

What's your reaction?
