New Delhi: The region-wise voting preference also indicates that the BJP-led NDA is leading across all four major regions of the country - South, North, East and the West. Even in the South and East, the NDA is projected to do well according to the CNN-IBN-CSDS-Lokniti post-poll survey.
The Modi wave in the West, North and Central part of India is almost a tsunami and the Congress and its allies have been simply been decimated. BJP's massive show of strength in these regions is expected to help the NDA reach the 272 mark.
The Congress-led UPA is doing very badly across all regions. It is slightly better in South and East but that is in no way a compensation for the mauling the party is receiving in other areas.
In all the states where there is a direct fight between the Congress and BJP, the former has been swept away by the Modi wave without even putting up a fight. Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh have turned into strong BJP fortresses and the party is winning an overwhelming number of seats there. The Congress has been left to pick up the crumbs.
The BJP-Shiv Sena-RPI alliance in Maharashtra is well ahead of the Congress-NCP combine.
In states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, the BJP has stitched up crucial alliances which have helped it strengthened its social base and go for the kill. Despite having towering regional leaders, both Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are voting for the NDA candidates and propelling it to power.
Even in Andhra Pradesh where the BJP is not a significant player, its alliance with the Telugu Desam Party has pulled up both the parties to the detriment of its rivals. The Congress as usual has virtually vanished from the state that it ruled for the last 10 years as its decision to split to the state and create Telangana has not paid any handsome returns.
