Uttar Pradesh's capital might be going under a makeover for PM Narendra Modi’s visit on 21st June for International Yoga Day with giant LED screens and beefed up security, but there might be few protests too.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's capital might be going under a makeover for PM Narendra Modi’s visit on 21st June for International Yoga Day with giant LED screens and beefed up security, but there might be few protests too.

The Bhartiya Kisan Union has announced that hundreds of farmers will be performing ‘Sheershasana’ in protest on all the national highways that are connecting to Lucknow.

“Our party workers along with farmers will be performing Yoga on the streets of Lucknow, Unnao, Sitapur, Lakhikmpur and Hardoi along with National Highways to protest against the anti-farmer attitude of the government,” said BKU spokesperson Rakesh Tikait. General Secretary of BKU, Dharmendra Malik said, “Already invitations are sent to thousands of farmers and we are doing this to extend our support to the farmers.”

The main Yoga Day programme will commence at Ramabai Stal at 6:30 am, while participants will be allowed entry from 2.00 am to 5:30 am. Invitations have also been sent to ex CM Akhilesh Yadav and BSP Chief Mayawati along with other ex CM’s of the state.

Samajwadi Party, on the other hand, has announced cycle yatras across the state to spread the message of environment conservation. Briefing about the programme, Spokesperson of Samajwadi Party, Rajendra Chowdhary said, “Our national president and ex CM of UP, Akhiesh Yadav has asked all the party workers of Samajwadi Party to be a part of cycle yatras across state in order to spread the message of health and environmental awareness. Our leaders will be doing Yoga at district headquarters while workers will be taking out Cycle Yatras.”

Also, almost 90,000 jail inmates will also be participating in International Yoga Day celebrations along with PM Modi, by doing Yoga from within the premises. “More than 90,000 inmates will be a part of the Yoga Day celebrations from within the premises with an aim to be mentally and physically fit. At many places our own personnel will be guiding them, while at other places private yoga teachers are hired,” said IG (prisons), PK Mishra.

Security

PM Narendra Modi will reach Ramabai Sthal at 6:30 am and will be there till 7:50 am before taking off for Delhi at 8 am on June 21st 2017 after taking part in the third International Yoga Day celebrations. Waterproof tents and apparaels have also been arranged in case of rains. The entire venue will be a no flying zone.

The ADG Zone Lucknow Abhay Kumar Prasad will be in charge of the security of PM Modi. The force which will take care of PM’s security will comprise of 26 SSP, 51 ASP. 137 CO, 224 Inspectors, 992 Sub-Inspectors, 163 Lady Sub-Inspectors, 295 Head Constables, 3700 Constables, 480 Lady Constables, 12 traffic inspectors, 157 Traffic Sub Inspectors, 123 Traffic Head Constables, 10 Central Armed Police Force, 25 Companies of PAC and 2 teams of ATS. Also, 400 CCTV cameras along with Drone Cameras will be used for monitoring Ramabai Sthal.
