Robert Vadra, the husband of Priyanka, welcomed the decision and said that he hoped that it is a dead issue now and won't be used against him.

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra will now be frisked at airports as his name has finally been removed from the 'No-frisking' list. The Congress welcomed the move saying the issue was raised by the Bharatiya Janata Party time and again against Vadra.

The Narendra Modi government had come under fire for keeping Vadra on VVIP list. The decision to exclude Vadra's name from 'No-frisking' list was taken by Civil Aviation Ministry.

Minister of State for Aviation Mahesh Sharma said that Vadra's name was removed after his post on Facebook. "Robert Vadra was given the facility as he is associated with a particular family and used to travel with Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi who are SPG protectee. At times, the facility was misused," said Sharma.

Welcoming the decision, Vadra posted on Facebook, "I appreciate that my name will not appear in the VVIP list anymore. I hope this is a dead issue now and will not be used against me. My best wishes."

Taking potshots at Vadra for going public that he be removed from the no-frisking list, Civil Aviation Minister Gajapati Raju had said, "I wish he (Vadra) did this when there was other government when he got those privileges".

"Had he any guts and what you call other things in him, that was the time to raise it," he had said.

Earlier, Vadra was not frisked at airports if he travelled with an SPG protectee. Since he has been removed from the elite list, he would be subjected to frisking at all airports even if he travels with a SPG protectee.
