The first meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new Cabinet took place on Monday in New Delhi. Portfolios were allocated to 71 ministers who took oath as part of the PM Modi-led Cabinet on Sunday.
According to sources, while addressing the Union Cabinet Ministers, PM Modi asked them to “not make unnecessary statements and speak only when necessary on issues related to your ministry”.
The prime minister also urged the Union Ministers to “reach the Ministry on time” as it has a “positive effect on the office staff”. PM Modi further encouraged the Cabinet ministers to “send the file to your MoS also and involve the Minister of State in the decisions of the (concerned) Ministry”.

Additionally, in the first meeting of the new Cabinet, the construction of 3 crore additional rural and urban houses was approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
“The Cabinet has decided to further expand the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and construct 3 crore additional rural and urban houses. This decision underscores the government’s commitment to addressing the housing needs of our nation and ensuring that every citizen leads a better quality of life. The expansion of PMAY also highlights our government’s commitment to inclusive growth and social welfare,” PM Modi said in an X post.

PM Modi called up former prime ministers HD Deve Gowda and Manmohan Singh and former President Pratibha Patil to seek blessings as he began his third term earlier in the day.
